If you're into your style, and like to break the mould with controversial yet beautiful threads, it would be hard for us to believe that you weren't a massive Alexander McQueen fan.
Lee Alexander McQueen was talented fashion designer and couturier born in South London. He began working as an apprentice in Saville Row and progressing to tailor and eventually theatrical costumiers. His fine detailing and experience helped earn him a reputation in the fashion world as an expert in creating an impeccably tailored look.
McQueen soon gained a notoriety after graduation from St. Martins. He designed for the likes of Bowie and Bjork McQueen and his runway shows were the hardest catwalks to gain access.
McQueen's early runway collections developed his reputation for controversy and shock tactics with trousers aptly named "bumsters" and a collection titled "Highland Rape". In 2004, journalist Caroline Evans also wrote of McQueen's "theatrical staging of cruelty", in magazine, referring to his dark and tortured renderings of Scottish history.
It's this very passion for his work that showed his commitment to art and as with true revolutionaries, they often are the most unhappy.
McQueen's death was announced on the afternoon of 11 February 2010. In the morning, his housekeeper found him hanged at his home.
